Three things that do not vary
You see it before we do anything
The camera goes down the flue before any brush goes up it, and the screen faces you. What happens next is your decision made with the same information we have, not a recommendation you have to take on trust.
The room is covered before it is opened
Coverings down over the hearth and the floor, and the vacuum running from before the damper is touched until we leave. The hearth is photographed on the way out, so the state you get back is on record.
Nothing is booked on the doorstep
You get the photographs and a plain account of what we found, including the parts that are worth watching rather than acting on. A good share of what we write up is 'leave this alone this year'.
Where we work and what that means
Thirty-eight towns, and the housing decides the job
The service area runs outward from Bloomfield through Essex, Hudson, Union, Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Middlesex and Monmouth counties. That sounds like a lot of ground and in practice it is four kinds of building, which is what actually matters: dense pre-war housing near the older centres, divided two- and three-family stock along the avenues, the post-war single-family belt further out, and the coastal towns where wind and salt do their own work on a chimney.
Bloomfield itself is mostly pre-war, and that one fact decides more of our work here than anything else. A chimney built for coal, converted to oil somewhere around mid-century and converted again to gas later, is now venting an appliance producing a fraction of the volume and a fraction of the heat — and almost none of them were resized on the way through. What that does is slow, invisible and entirely fixable, and it is the finding we write up more often than any other.
It is also why the camera is not an upsell on this site. On a chimney with a century of appliance changes behind it, looking is the job. The sweeping is what follows if looking says it should.
What this site does not say
The claims that are missing, and why
There is no licence number on this site, no certification badge, no insurance statement and no figure for years in business. That is not modesty. None of those could be verified from the public record while this site was being built, and a claim nobody checked is a claim we would rather not make on a page a customer is using to decide whether to trust us.
There are no prices either, anywhere, including on the pages about cost. What a chimney needs is decided by what is inside it, and a number published before anybody has looked is a number that will be wrong for most of the people who read it.
What is here instead is the review count and the rating exactly as Google publishes them, with the date they were read, and a histogram counted one review at a time from the download rather than worked back from the average. If any of the other claims become verifiable, they will appear here and be dated.
